Steps for hedge trimming:

  1. You should trim the hedge about two or three times a year.
  2. The optimal time is June, August and then again before the winter break in October.
  3. With electric garden shears it is quick and easy
  4. Trim the hedge whenever ivy shoots grow out of the hedge. Cut the shoots flat against the hedge by cutting along the hedge with the hedge trimmer.
  5. Be careful not to cut any ivy strands but only the tips, as this will cause the strand to die.
  6. Also trim the "head end" of the hedge. This way the hedge will remain even in height and will always look well-groomed.

As garden shears I use a Cordless grass and shrub shears from Gardena , which I can really recommend. Therefore, I am displaying the shears as a link Gardena Cordless grass and shrub shears .

In the long video documentation I used the Bosch cordless hedge trimmer EasyHedgeCut 18-45 Solo . I can highly recommend this hedge trimmer as it costs less than 100 euros (this is not an advertising link).
